For this week’s Friday Favorite (I know…it’s only Wednesday!) I want to tell you about something new that I got to try out just last week. It’s the SeaQuest Aquarium located in the Layton Hills Mall in Layton.
This is a pretty new thing, it actually just opened in November. It’s new, it’s beautiful and there really is nothing like it located in Davis County. And actually, the way that it’s been set up there isn’t a whole lot like it out there. You see, it’s not just an aquarium, it’s really an interactive experience. There are only a few exhibits in the whole aquarium that have animals in them that you can’t/shouldn’t interact with. Those exhibits have high walls on them so you really can’t interact with them anyway. Everything else has low walls. You can touch, feed, examine pretty much anything you see here. That makes it so much more than an aquarium.
I love the way it’s set up in areas. Each of the rooms has a different and fun theme. Instead of me trying to explain it all to you, I found this video on their website that I’m going to stick in here so you can watch it.
My little guy and I were able to go on a special tour of SeaQuest with a group of bloggers. I loved the different perspective I was able to get of this special place from listening to a couple of the owners talk about why everything is set up the way it is and just how they do things. Then we got to go and play on our own. And we had a blast!
So far our favorite things to do here have been watching the stingrays in the Caribbean Cove (pictured, this might be my most favorite picture I’ve ever taken!), the fish pedicure and feeding the parakeets, but I guarantee as we go back we’ll find even more favorites. And we’ll be going back a lot! The aquarium has graciously given our family a family pass for the next year and I’m excited to be able to tell you throughout the year just what we’ve loved about it. So watch for special features coming throughout the year.
I wanted specifically to talk about the fish pedicure today. I had so much fun doing this! It’s not something I ever would have bought for myself, I don’t spend a lot (read any) of money on things like manicures and pedicures. But I can’t tell you just how much I loved it! I thought that I’d be a bit startled when I put my feet in, but the fish touching my feet honestly didn’t bother me even a little bit. They are toothless and they just eat the dead skin off of your feet and leave the live skin alone. I loved the way my feet felt smooth and refreshed after. So much fun! You can find out more information about fish pedicures and book your own here.
And they didn’t leave you, my readers, out either! You can use my special code MYBOOKADAY25 to give you 25 percent off any day passes you buy for the next two weeks. This is especially fun for all of you Davis County people, because it takes in the first part of Spring Break. Make sure you use my special code to try out this amazing place. You can use it on their website here.
And even more fun! I get to give away 4 Fish Pedicures to one of my lucky readers! Check out the giveaway.

And guess what…the Utah location isn’t the only one. There’s currently one in Las Vegas, NV and they’re building one in Fort Worth, TX as well.
