About Heart in the Highlands
An arranged marriage was never what Callum Darrington, future Duke of Edinbane, imagined for himself. But with the well-being of his uncle’s family hanging in the balance, Callum strikes a bargain with his father and reluctantly agrees to tie himself to a stranger. The reality of the lovely Lady Katherine is more than he could have hoped for, and their wedding heralds a bright new future for the couple—until Callum discovers his father deliberately deceived him. Callum lashes out, setting in motion heartbreak not even he could have foreseen.
Four years later, Callum is ready to piece together the marriage he so carelessly destroyed. But their years apart have hardened Kate: she is not the naïve and trusting young woman she once was, and she has no intention of allowing Callum a foothold in her life or her heart. Despite her coldness, Callum works to regain her trust and rebuild their marriage, not realizing Kate harbors a secret that could change everything—and this time, there is much more at stake than just her heart.
This book by Heidi Kimball was one that everyone was raving about on Instagram. And let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. I loved everything about this book!
I loved Kate. She is a strong woman who goes through so many losses in the course of this book. Those losses make her strong, but they also make the walls she throws up around her heart strong. I loved the way she was with Callum, even though she only met him less than a day before they were married. And the way she was with her daughter, I just loved her character!
Callum…I liked him. He and Kate had an instant connection. But he leaves almost as soon as they marry, for such a long time. It’s no wonder Kate erected such high walls around her heart. I did love the way he goes about rebuilding their relationship. These two just work together.
One thing this author did such a great job with was taking the reader to Scotland. I loved the way she wrote the words, I could almost hear the Scottish brogue as I was reading it. And her descriptions of Scotland. Wow! I need a trip to Scotland right away.
This book was one I didn’t want to put down. I loved everything about it!
I bought my own copy of Heart in the Highlands. All opinions are my own.
