book a day

Hey, I'm Cathy! I'm a mom of 3. Ever since I was a little girl I have read something every day. When I was a teenager, I realized that I could read so fast that some days I could read a book a day. So, when I decided to start my own blog, that's kind of what seemed to be natural and Book a Day was born. I still read at least a little bit every day and it's really not uncommon for me to read a book every day or at most every couple of days.

I feel like daily reading has benefited my life in so many ways. Learning new words is one of those ways. Another benefit is the way you feel like you've traveled to a new place every time you open another book. You get to live a new life and go on a special trip with the characters of the book.

I read all kinds of things. I read fiction and non-fiction. I read children's books. I would say my favorite things to read are Romance, Contemporary Romance is my very favorite. But I also enjoy reading Women's Fiction, Regency Romance, Historical Fiction, Historical Romance. In non-fiction, I enjoy reading books about people.

People ask me what my favorite book is. How could I ever pick just one??? Some of my very favorites are the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull, Harry Potter (of course!), Camron Wright's books, The Orphan Keeper and The Rent Collector both touched me immensely. In non-fiction my favorite is probably You are More Than Enough You are Magnificent by Ganel-Lyn Condie. I'm always looking for something new to read!

Reading daily is something that's important to me, not only reading to myself but also to my children. They are also avid readers and have been since before starting kindergarten. There's nothing that makes me happier than seeing a child who otherwise would not like reading discover a new author that opens up the world of reading to them.

Besides reading, I love traveling with my family (and I always take a book with me!), watching movies, checking out new places, eating at fun new restaurants, clothes, and family activities in the Salt Lake City area. I talk about all of these things and more in my Favorite Friday posts every Friday.
